Imperial Griffin by FeatherGale Imperial Griffin by FeatherGale
I was playing Heroes of Might and Magic 5 the other day, and fell in love with imperial griffins all over again - not the strongest unit, but so much fun! When I told a friend how much I was enjoying the game, I was promptly challenged to see if I could draw a griffin within four hours, and took up the gauntlet (I failed miserably thanks to the scrollwork, but the result was so worth it XD).

The drawing was canon to begin with, but after a while I decided to mess around with the armour design...then added the filigree...to end up with a griffin that looks vaguely similar to the HoMM 5 version. Had fun with my new markers too, they give such a gorgeous smooth finish. Fantastic things.

Thanks! The griffin was pencil sketched first, then outlined with fineliner, and finally coloured with Letraset markers. The background was added using PSP.
